Additional financial support from private individuals and firms becomes especially important to a museum’s existence, particularly in times of strained public budgets and meagre operating funds.

To this end, the “Association of Friends and Supporters of the Museum of Man and Nature” was founded in 1984 as a non-profit organization to support the work of the museum in encouraging interest in and knowledge of natural history.


The organisation supports, among other things, the purchase of new objects for the museum, publications and museum events.

Through the financial support of the membership association, the museum was able to purchase numerous animal dermoplastics, including this polar bear.
